HUME SCOTTISH BORDERS 4kw

*** UPDATE *** August 2011

This installation has already produced 2971kwh after a period of only 9 months.  This has exceeded our expectations and by the end of the first year is on course to over produce by 25%

Hume installation over producing

The 4kw array at Hume was one of the first installations carried out by www.pvroofs.co.uk. The system was complete with sixteen 235 watt panels in place, and each panel measuring approximately 1656mm x 999mm. It was estimated that the panels would produce around 3000kwh in the first 12 months of generating electricity, but the system has already exceeded our expectations producing 2917kwh after only 9 months. The 4kw system is on course to over produce by 25% at the end of the first year, paying back around £500 per year more than estimated.

As the system was expected to produce around 3000kwh, this would mean feed in tariff payments or around £1300 per annum for 25 years and £300 worth of electricity each year as well. However as it is over producing, the feed in tariff payments will be increasing. The fully installed cost of the system was under £15,000 with £40,000 at today’s prices coming back through the clean energy cash back scheme.

The array is starting to take shape with six of the sixteen 235 watt panels in place that will make up the 4 kw array. Each panel is approx 1650mm x 999mm.
